Membership upgrades and extension

I have a question on the memberships.
2 scenarions:
1.) upgrade an existing membership
Example:
I have monthly silver actually on day 10.
When I upgrade to monthly gold, what will happen?
gold starts for 30 days, when over, will drop back to last 20 days of silver?
Or is that silver lost after upgrade to gold?

2.) extend membership
Example:
I have yearly golden ... after 7 month there will be a promo with reduced price for yearly golden.
When I buy the promoted membership will it add at the end of my running membership?
So in this example 5 month old golden, when over the promoted will start with 12 month?
Or will the promoted start, when you buy it and the first membership is lost ?

In both cases your time begins from the date the new upgrade or the new membership is taken. On that day the old membership gets over and does not exist. So in the second example if you are already yearly golden there is no sense in taking yearly discount promo for yearly membership unless there is very less time for earlier membership to expire.

1. If its different membership then it will be lost.
But you can claim the remaining days into Purchase Balance. You only need to send support ticket.

2. It wil extend membership, so you will have 5+12 months.
